Car Crash on Babcock Boulevard Injures Cyclist
On June 30th at 7:30 PM, a cyclist was hit and injured by a driver at Thompson Run Road. It is unclear at this time if either party did anything unsafe or illegal.
Pedestrian Injured in Crash on Fifth Avenue
On June 30, at around 9:45 PM, there was a crash between a driver and a young woman on Fifth Avenue near Wilkins Avenue. Police report that the driver had the right of way, and that “the pedestrian walked out in front of the car.”

On June 22, Shawnae Galberth was staying at the Econo Lodge on Route 51 in Jefferson Hills with her three children. When her two- and three-year-olds fell asleep, she and her third child walked to a convenience store to get food for the next day. While they were out, the two- and three-year-olds woke up, left their room, and began to walk along Route 51, where the three-year-old was struck by a driver.

Dorian Mills was walking on the southbound side of Route 119 in Bullskin Township at 2:15 AM on Saturday, June 22, when he was struck and killed by the driver of an SUV. The driver is not expected to be charged.

Dave Roenigk’s family owns a school bus company located on a bend in Ekastown Road in Buffalo Township. On June 19, he was mowing the grass on their property when a driver fell asleep at the wheel and failed to navigate the bend, crashed into Roenigk, and killed him.
Crash on Cole Road Kills 13-Year-old
On Friday, May 24, at about 7:00 P.M, Dylan Turbi and a friend were biking west on Cole Road in Buffalo Township when they were struck by a driver, killing Dylan and injuring his friend.

On February 16, a bike rider was hit by a driver as they tried to navigate between the Penn Avenue cycle track and the Smallman Street bike lanes. This crash has reignited a discussion among activists to extend the Penn Avenue cycle track to Lawrenceville. They organized a demonstration at the crash site on February 28. While media organizations were notified, the police and the City were not.

On the morning of February 24 in North Belle Vernon, 6-year-old Aria Woznick left for school with her older siblings. According to police, she walked out of her house, reached the sidewalk on Fayette Street, started to cross, and was hit by the driver of a car. Parents did their best to help before a helicopter could arrive to take her to UPMC Children’s Hospital, where she died. A family friend has set up a GoFundMe to help cover funeral costs.
Teen Getting Ice Cream Killed by Driver
Around 7:30 on the night of February 5th, Bailey Lentz Veitch walked to the Dairy Queen on East Crawford Avenue in Connellsville. After picking up some ice cream, she began walking south towards her home. At the same time, Mark Lucic, who was on his way home to Ontario from Seven Springs Mountain Resort, drove his 2005 GMC Sierra pickup truck south on Crawford. Lucic had been drinking and later told police he had no memories of what happened that day.

On February 16, a bike rider came to the end of the 16th Street cycle track and started on the roundabout route to the Smallman Street bike lanes. They turned right onto 16th Street and were turning onto Spring Way when they were hit by the driver of an SUV. They were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

On February 1st, a fight started outside a bar at the corner of Frankstown Avenue and Oakwood Street in Homewood. Following the fight, one person got into their SUV and used it to ram three people, severely injuring two of them.
